Each course builds on different theatre/performance skill
There are no “marks” in this course, only feedback and encouragement from the facilitator. There are self-reflections and peer reflections (what worked, what could work next time), which equals a safe environment!
You will learn some theory, a new skill set, put them into practice and CREATE!

Class One
Approaching a Script:
Scripst may seem simple on the surface, but are quite complex in reality. By exploring theorists like Stanislavsky, you will learn that the actor's FIRST job is to fine LIFE in the script!
Class Two
Building a Character:
You will learn the 16 Keys to Characterization, and discover a character's thought units and transitions to enhance your understanding and performance!
Class Three
Scene Study:
Taking what we have learned from building a character and approaching a script, we will dive deeper into short scenes and look carefully at the layers on meaning and intent. We will perform these short scenes followed by feedback and development.
Class Four
Monologue:
An actor should have a few well-developed monologues at the ready. This class will explore the skills of the monologue when delivering one in a play and how to choose one for an audition.
Meet your instructor, Lana Borsellino!
Lana has been involved in stage performance since she was 4 years old. She is an award-winning actor and director with her honors degree in Theatre from McMaster University and her Specialist from OISE at Stratford. Over her 30 year career in education, she has taught every grade from 2 to 12, launching strong programming and opportunities in The Arts to every school wherever she taught. A strong advocate for The Arts and creativity in the curriculum and in life, she has been a presenter at several major conferences in Ontario. She has led many adults as a director of a wide range of plays and musicals, as well as teaching professionals, in workshops and at events, how the skills of performing arts enhance every aspect of work and leisure life!
